Expressions of a Text Page Culture

This blog was inspired by my good friend Terry and the funniest text page ever sent. On a perfect fall night, Terry and I were at a wine festival listening to live music and sipping Margaritas when I received the text from my boyfriend. He and I had been fighting all day – via text- after one of my many attempts to break up with him. In his drastic effort to save the relationship he sent me a page with the words:

“MERRY ME”      

I stared at the text page in utter disbelief while the music boomed around me. Was my incredulousness sparked by the marriage proposal?  Was it the inappropriateness of the medium of communication? Or was it perhaps the realization that I had been dating an imbecile??

I showed the text to my friend who also stared at it for a while before erupting into laughter that nearly drowned out the music. Contagious as it was, her and I spent the better part of the next two hours in hysterics at my poor boyfriend’s expense.

My purpose for this blog is to provide a forum where others can post their culture-defining text pages. How may others out there have received text pages that blew them away? How many of us use the text for communication that before would have been reserved for audio or face to face conversations?

So send them to me and please provide me their context or story. Especially if they fall into one of the categories below:
